Week of September 14

Lesson Plans for the Week of September 14, 2009

Monday:

-    Word of the Week Assignment
-    For today’s class, we will study the poem “Mists of Eden.” We will begin with a prediction activity
-    We will also begin discussing the elements of poetry

Tuesday:

-    Today we will continue our discussion of the “Mists of Eden.”  
-    The students will work in small groups to complete a prediction assignment related to the poem

Wednesday:

-    For today’s class, we will being with a Guided Reading exercise. We will work on our understanding of character, setting, and plot
-    Next we will discuss extended responses and the first trait of good writing.


Thursday:

-    Today’s lesson will involve poetry.  We will learn about the poetry style of the Haiku.
-    The students will create a Haiku of their own.
-    We will finish class reviewing our grammar concepts

Friday:

-    During class today, we will be reading silently
