Grading Policies
My assignments are graded on a point system. The points are established to reflect the weight they should have in comparison to the rest of the class work. For example, in class activities receive 5 points and are generally graded for completion and participation in the day's activities. Homework receives 10 points and points are taken off for any answer incorrect (it is possible to receive half points). Large projects are given more points, usually worth a total of 100 points. Writing assignments are valued according to time spent working on it, and length, generally being 50-150 points. Tests are usually worth 70 points. The point system is designed to be flexible, and if you feel as though an assignment is given too much or too little weight, feel free to engage in discussion with me.
PLEASE NOTE: It
is my responsibility to teach, not to give poor grades, so I would like
the chance to give any extra help to those who need it. ANYONE
WHO GETS A "D" OR "F" ON A MINI-LESSON ASSIGNMENT, MAY COME IN BEFORE
OR AFTER SCHOOL FOR INDIVIDUAL HELP AND THEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO THE
ASSIGNMENT AGAIN! I will average
the two grades and then replace the first grade with the average.
The student needs to take the initiative to come in for help. I will
not automatically give second chances without the student asking.
