Curriculum Guide
Course Title: Life Science - 7 Teacher: Mr Earp
Course Length: 1 Year
Textbook and/or Other Materials Used:
Text - Holt Science & Technology (2007 Edition)
Course outline of content and objectives:
Students will study living things to develop an understanding of fundamental life processes, classification of living things, safe use of laboratory equipment, and use of the International System (SI) of Measurement.
Topics covered will include:
Scientific Method,
Measurement,
Traits of Living Things,
Structure of Viruses and Cells,
Cellular Processes,
Cell Reproduction,
Heredity,
Classification of Living Things,
Introduction to the Animal Kingdom,
Vertebrate Anatomy and Physiology, and
Human Body Systems.
Daily/weekly assignments, grading procedures, and special projects:
Activities: A variety of teaching methods will be employed to add interest in life science. Students will participate in cooperative learning activities, laboratory activities, and individual assignments.
Grading: Students will be graded on study questions, worksheets, laboratory activities, quizzes and tests using the standard grading scale as published in the GMS student handbook.
